Documentation Examples

Apple framework documentation is obtuse. Microsoft .NET documentation strives to provide examples on every class or method page. Yes, I’ll grant that too often (but not too much) the examples are pointless and useless, but mostly I can glean useful insights on the intent or form or a method or class from the examples.

Apple’s examples are buried in complete working apps (“Sample Code”) with no linkage from the class documentation page. I’m happy to see they’ve reduced the length of the copyright boilerplate to a few lines. Still, merging brief tutorials with class documentation would be a huge benefit to the legions of corporate programmers out there who are driven to learn this stuff because they’re paid to, not because they love Apple.
